ST. CROIX — VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson has made known two incidents here, both including gunshots being fired at victims not sure why they were being shot at.
According to Jackson, on Thursday, September 3, at 12:30 a.m., a female motorist reported to officers at the Ancilmo D. Marshall Command in Basin Triangle that her vehicle had been shot at.
According to the claimant, while taking one of her two friends home after having left their place of employment, they passed a small, black vehicle, occupied by two young, black males in the Estate Barren Spot area. But after dropping one of the friends off and exiting Barren Spot, the pair noticed the same black vehicle following them and suddenly heard gunfire ring out and felt the impact of the gunfire.
The two friends, uninjured in the assault immediately drove to the police substation to seek assistance and file a report. They were unable to provide officers with a description of the assailants or the vehicle they were occupying.
The incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
Elsewhere on the same day, at about 12:30 a.m., officers received notification from the 911 emergency call center of gunfire having been discharged in Estate Glynn at the Water and Power Authority Garage.
Responding officers met with the Security Guard on duty who stated that at roughly 11:08 p.m., the evening of Wednesday, September 2, an unknown individual operating a scooter was observed discharging gunfire onto the property. The Security Guard concealed himself to avoid being seen by the shooter as another shot rang out while the operator of the scooter drove off in an easterly direction.
The security guard was unable to provide offices with a description of the scooter or its operator, but was able to direct officers to the two vehicles that had been struck by gunfire.
The matter is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
