TORTOLA — Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Judith Vanterpool announced today that One Mart Supermarket here has sent off two shipments of relief supplies to disaster stricken Dominica.
The supplies, which include a 40 foot container of Niagara water and miscellaneous grocery items such as cup of noodles, milk, tuna fish, mackerel, corn beef, Vienna sausages, rice, flour and macaroni and cheese, are valued at US$10,000.00.
The first shipment sailed from Port Purcell, Tortola on Friday on board the MV Addie K, while the second shipment left on Sunday via Tropical Shipping.
The island of Dominica suffered major infrastructural damage and several persons lost their lives as a result of the extensive flooding caused by the passage of Tropical Storm Erika on Wednesday 26 August.
“Our hearts are with the people of Dominica and we support them in their time of need,”Vanterpool said. “We are happy to give back to the people of Dominica at this time, because it is the right thing to do. In addition, many of our staff members are natives of Dominica and we have very loyal customers who are Dominicans.”
Vanterpool said management has worked in collaboration with senior staff, including Vicky Enriquez, Simon Robin, Zilma Dailey and John James, to coordinate the delivery of these supplies directly to Ezekiel Basil, Parliamentary Representative of the Wesley Constituency and Catherine Daniel, Parliamentary Representative, Caulihaut Constituency.
