Students Should Not Report For Classes On Friday At Alfredo Andrews Elementary School, DOE Says

Community Center / News / October 1, 2015

ST. CROIX — Alfredo Andrews Elementary School students should not attend classes tomorrow, Friday, October 2, 2015, as previously planned. The St. Croix Superintendent of Schools Colleen Williams was expecting classes to convene as usual on Friday after classes were dismissed at the school early Thursday because of a broken overhead water line that affected two major storage areas at the school, a press release the Department of Education issued late Thursday has revealed.

The entire water system at the school was shut down to facilitate repair.

While maintenance crews are expected to work tirelessly overnight to correct the problem, they have reported to the Superintendent that the pipe fittings will need additional time to fully seal and avoid any leakage. As a safety measure for the entire school population, the Superintendent has found it necessary to cancel classes for Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Alfredo Andrews Elementary School.

The St. Croix Superintendent regrets the inconvenience of the closing to students, parents, and faculty and staff at Alfredo Andrews Elementary, and looks forward for classes to be back in session on Monday, October 5, 2015.

Faculty and staff are asked to report to the Curriculum Center on Friday morning.
