ST. CROIX — Virgin Islands Police Department officers on Monday arrested two Williams Delight men on drug and firearm possession charges, according to VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman.
According to Ms. Freeman, a search warrant was executed for 925 Estate Williams Delight on Monday, in a joint effort by the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Forensic Bureau, and the Special Response Team (SRT).
As the SRT team entered the dwelling, a black male, standing behind the door, pointed a gun at them. However, after seeing several officers, he retreated into the dwelling and allowed the search and arrest to continue without any further incidents.
Two men were found in the home, later identified as 23-year-old Stedroy Francis Jr. and 44-year-old Pedro E. Harris. A subsequent search of the premises yielded the discovery of a 40 caliber handgun and rounds of ammunition, in addition to a bedroom being used to grow, dry and prepare marijuana for distribution.
According to Ms. Freeman, approximately 110 marijuana plants, 6,080 dried marijuana buds and drug paraphernalia used for packaging were seized in the operation.
Harris and Francis Jr. were both arrested and charged with the cultivation and manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, according to Ms. Freeman. Francis Jr. was also charged with unauthorized possession of an unlicensed firearm and other firearms related charges, along with third degree assault for pointing his firearm at the officers.
Bail for Harris was set at $10,000 while bail for Francis Jr. was set at $35,000. Both men were remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advise-of-rights hearing after failing to make bail.
