ST. THOMAS — The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Correctional Facility, located in Florida, extradited Jason Brian Coulter, seen here — wanted in connection with the homicide of then-60-year-old William Bennett — to the territory on Monday. Coulter was formally arrested on Friday, November 13.
According VIPD Public Information Officer Kevin Jackson, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, Roy Lester Schneider Hospital security personnel performed a welfare check for William Bennett, who was a laboratory staff member at the medical facility.
Upon arrival to the residence of the deceased, located in Sapphire Village, hospital security knocked on the door of the apartment and received no answer. After making several attempts, the maintenance manager of the complex was contacted and entry was gained into the apartment.
RLSH security personnel began to inspect the apartment searching for Mr. Bennett, and found a large, black garbage bag that contained his body.
Mr. Bennett moved from Tennessee to this island, according to police, however there was no information on how long he’d resided in the territory.
Coulter was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.
