ST. THOMAS — According to a press release Government House issued on the behalf of the Virgin Islands Fire Service, St. Thomas branch, two Marriott Frenchman’s Reef employees were transported by EMS personnel to the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital further treatment after sustaining burns from an explosion that occurred at the hotel.

According to the release, both units from Hotel Company responded to a 911 emergency call regarding the explosion. Upon arrival at the hotel, fire personnel were escorted by security staff to the hotel’s kitchen area only to find that the fire was already extinguished. The Fire Service’s investigative unit was then summoned to the scene to conduct further examination of the kitchen area.

At about 11:45 a.m., both units and crew returned to their base at Hotel Company, according to the release.
