ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department found a decomposing body at about 2:30 p.m. today, Kevin Jackson, the force’s public information officer announced via press release late Friday.
According to the release, the 911 emergency call center received notification from a concerned citizen of the discovery of a decomposing body in Estate Contentment.
Mr. Jackson said responding officers arrived at the site and came upon an old, uncovered water well and saw the body. The well was approximately 25-30 feet deep and contained close to 3 feet of water. St. Croix Rescue was summoned to the scene to assist in the extraction of the body.
The matter is under active investigation by detectives, according to Mr. Jackson.
