ST. THOMAS — Police were able to apprehend a man who allegedly broke into a home and attempted to make away with a bag of stolen items, VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Friday.
According to Ms. Freeman, on Wednesday at roughly 12:29 p.m., officers were dispatched by the 911 emergency call center to a residence located in Bovoni in response to a report of a burglary.
The victim said that she was in her home resting when she heard a sudden noise of glass breaking coming from her bathroom window. She then heard noises as if someone was walking on broken glass, and immediately called 911 for assistance.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect entered the eastern window of the residence and placed several items in a bag while inside. Shortly after, as the suspect exited the residence through the window he had broken, officers had arrived at the scene and were able to successfully capture the suspect.
The suspect, Moses Laronde, 21, of Estate Thomas was charged with second degree burglary and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections for his advise-of-rights hearing, after failing to make bail of $71,000.
