ST. THOMAS — For the third consecutive year, Scotiabank says it has been a proud sponsor of the Junior Achievement’s “Economics for Success” program, a press release the global banking institution issued on Friday reveals.
The Junior Achievement is a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers who all work together to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential. “Economics for Success” is a hands-on program that teaches the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship, lifestyle choices and financial literacy to young people.
Economics for Success was sponsored by Scotiabank’s Bright Future program which is the foundation of Scotiabank’s charitable efforts in the Virgin Islands. The six-week course was taught by Scotiabank and community volunteers in classrooms at Addelita Cancryn Jr. High School on St. Thomas and John H. Woodson Jr. High School on St. Croix.
At the end of the course, all participants were awarded with certificates of completion and treated to a pizza party and award ceremony.
