ST. CROIX — The American Counseling Association of the Virgin Islands will be hosting its 36th Annual Professional Development Conference for helping professionals on Friday, February 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the University of the Virgin Islands Great Hall, a press release the organization issued on Monday has revealed. The theme of the conference is “Building a More Resilient Future: A Practical Guide For Helping Professionals”.
The keynote speaker is Michelle A. Mitcham, is a counselor educator, with 13 years of experience in a unique specialty of conflict resolution and forensic family interventions, according to the release. She is a Florida Supreme Court certified family mediator with over 20 years working with families. Learn more about her here.
Other presenters include Kerry M. McCord, DC, DIBAK, who will speak on the topic: “The Mind-Body Connection: A Holistic Approach to Medication Management.” And Tracy Sanders, RN, who will tackle the subject: “Caring for Yourself After Loved Ones are Gone.”
The panel discussion is titled, “Building A More Resilient Future: A Practical Guide For Helping Professionals.”
Registration drop-off sites include the Daytime Adult Education, located behind the Juanita Gardine Elementary School. The form should be delivered to Mrs. Berlina Wallace-Berube. And Dr. Shurla Jeffers-Knight at the Virgin Islands Behavioral Services, located in the Dept. of Human Services complex in Christiansted, according to an ACAVI official. On-site registration runs from 7:30 a.m.– 8:00 a.m. with an extra charge of $10.
The cost of registration is as follows: members pay $65.00, non-members $80.00, and full-time students as well as retirees $50. Registration fee includes lunch and continuing education units (CEUs).
