ST. THOMAS — Major businesses in the health and hotel industries — Plessen Healthcare and the Carambola Golf Club — will learn whether they will be afforded tax exemption status through the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (E.D.A.), on Thursday, during a public hearing to be held at 9 a.m. at 8000 Nisky Shopping Center here and via video conference feed to the William D. Roebuck Industrial in Frederiksted, St. Croix.
That’s according to a press release E.D.A. issued on Monday afternoon. A tax exemption decision will also be made for Atrium VI, LLC.
Any person, firm or corporation interested in the approval or disapproval of the applications may appear and be heard provided that a written statement is submitted at least one day prior to the hearing to the chief executive officer of the E.D.A., the release says.
A decision meeting by the Economic Development Commission (E.D.C.) and the Economic Development Bank will immediately follow the public hearing on applications and/or matters which may be brought to the appropriate board for action. The E.D.C. will also hold a meeting on an administrative matter for JH Capital (V.I.), Inc., on an extension request for capital investment. The annual meeting for the Enterprise Zone Commission will also be held, according to the release.
The release added that the E.D.A.’s board of directors and its subsidiary boards may go into executive session with respect to any decision at any time during the meeting, in accordance with law.
