ST. THOMAS — The Department of Public Works on Friday announced the closure of Fort Christian on the Waterfront, a sign that carnival activities here have shifted into high gear.

Public Works is asking that all vehicles vacate the parking lot — the traditional location for carnival — no later than 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. The department warned that vehicles found in the parking lot thereafter will be towed and the bill issued to the owner of the vehicle.

The parking lot will be available for regular parking on May 9.

This year’s carnival theme is: “Nothing is More Fabulous Than St. Thomas Carnival!”

The St. Thomas Carnival Committee has also made available this year’s full carnival lineup, seen immediately below:

  • April 9: Calypso elimination tent.
  • April 10: Prince and Princess show.
  • April 16: Queen pageant.
  • April 18: Carnival at Schneider Hospital.
  • April 19: Junior Calypso competition.
  • April 20: Cultural Night.
  • April 22: Opening of Carnival Village.
  • April 23: Calypso competition.
  • April 24: Boat races and steelpan events.
  • April 25: Village entertainment.
  • April 26: Senior Citizens quelbe tramp.
  • April 27: Cultural and Food Fair.
  • April 28: J’ouvert Morning.
  • April 29: Children’s Parade.
  • April 30: Adults Parade, fireworks and last lap.
