St. Thomas Woman Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle

ST. THOMAS — A woman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the Moravian Highway in the area of Nisky Center, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced on Tuesday.

According to Ms. Freeman, on Monday at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers from the V.I.P.D. Traffic Bureau were dispatched to Moravian Highway, adjacent to Nisky Center regarding a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival to the scene, contact was made with a damaged vehicle and an unresponsive female victim lying on the northern side of the roadway, according to the police report.

The victim was later identified as 45-year-old Marina Esthel Luciano Santana. Ms. Luciano Santana was pronounced dead on the scene by the emergency medical technicians on the scene.

Investigators with the Traffic Investigation Bureau are continuing their investigation into the matter, the release concluded.
