ST. THOMAS — On the heels of a shakeup at the Virgin Islands Police Department, the force is reporting today multiple gunshots near the Addelita Crancryn Junior High School and Total Service Gas Station, a reminder that crime in the territory remains high, and a sign of caution to the V.I.P.D.’s new chiefs that a lot of work needs to be done if the situation is to change.
According to the force’s media specialist Sakeeda Freeman, today at approximately 9: 55 a.m., V.I.P.D. officers along with officers from other law enforcement agencies, responded to the area of Total Service Gas Station located in Altona, in regards to shots fired.
Upon arrival to the scene, units discovered multiple spent casings in the roadway between the gas station and the Addelita Cancryn Junior High School. Ms. Freeman did not say if there were victims, or whether police had a lead on possible suspects. The release did note, however, that the incident is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
