District-Wide Power Outage Affecting St. Thomas, St. John And Water Island

Community Center / Virgin Islands / June 8, 2016

ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority early Wednesday said that it was experiencing a district-wide electrical service interruption affecting the islands of St. Thomas, St. John and Water Island.

W.A.P.A. says plant personnel are working to address the cause of the service interruption and will begin restoration as soon and as safely as possible, after the Randolph Harley Power Plant lost generation capacity just after 4 a.m. today.

W.A.P.A. did not say what caused the power plant to lose generating capacity.
