Kurt Vialet Is Top Vote-Getter Once More; Senate Makeup Stays The Same

Breaking News / Featured / News / Top Stories / Virgin Islands / August 6, 2016

ST. CROIX — Kurt Vialet handily won the senate battle in today’s primary election on this island, besting his fellow incumbents — all of whom were voted in — and going into the November General Election as the senator to beat.

Mr. Vialet’s total of 1,544, or 14.28 percent of all votes, was closely followed by another freshman senator, Novelle Francis, who came in a close second with 1,464, or 13.54 percent of all votes.

Mr. Vialet and Mr. Francis, along with Kenneth Gittens, Sammuel Sanes, Neville James and Nereida Rivera-O’Reilly, retained their seats at least for the primary election. The race becomes more interesting during the General Election in November. Newcomer Terrence Joseph came in seventh place.

I wear many hats, I suppose, but the one which fits me best would be journalism, second to that would be radio personality, thirdly singer/songwriter and down the line. I've been the Editor-In-Chief at my videogames website, Gamesthirst, for over 5 years, writing over 7,000 articles and more than 2 million words. I'm also very passionate about where I live, the United States Virgin Islands, and I'm intent on making it a better place by being resourceful and keeping our leaders honest. VI Consortium was birthed out of said desire, hopefully my efforts bear fruit. Reach me at [email protected].
