ST. CROIX — Officer Lesha Lammy was laid to rest on Thursday at the Kingshill Cemetery, following a funeral service at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Frederiksted. Media was not allowed at the event, but before a Consortium reporter was turned away by an officer, a glimpse inside the church was captured, showing a full house of family, friends, police officers and firefighters, as well as government officials.
Ms. Lammy, along with Officer Kai Javois, whose funeral will be held today at the Peter’s Rest Adventist Church, were found dead at a Hams Bluff beach in Frederiksted on August 11. The homicides have captured the attention of a shocked public, many of whom have expressed dismay about ongoing gun violence in the territory that seemingly has no end.
In a press release issued late Thursday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte said the force’s Criminal Investigations Bureau “is diligently working on this double homicide and continues to speak with individuals of interest.”
The force is asking anyone with information relating to this case to call (340 )712-6092, the chief’s office at (340)712-6004, Crime Stoppers VI at 1 (800) 222-Tips, or 911.
