Today’s title says it all: The Department of Planning and Natural Resources has once again failed to test St. Croix beaches to determine whether they meet accepted water quality standards. And once again, the department has failed to give a reason as to why waters here weren’t examined.
The tests, which establishes enterococci bacteria level to determine water safety, cleared all St. Thomas beaches this week, as well as all tested St. John beaches, bar Cruz Bay, which was deemed unsafe this weekend.
The Consortium has asked D.P.N.R. for an explanation relative to why it’s suddenly not testing beaches, as for the past three weeks, beaches here or in St. Thomas went untested without explanation.
