ST. CROIX — About 150 Central High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (J.R.O.T.C.) students gathered before 8:00 a.m. at the Frederiksted Beach on Saturday to continue a decadeslong tradition of a full-scale cleanup.
The students were divided into three groups, with each group being further divided into units of three. They cleaned from the entrance near the shanty, all the way to the Frederiksted pool, documenting every item that was picked up and trashed.
The students collected all sorts of trash: from the expected items such as disposable plates and cups, to unusual objects such as a flowerpot.
After the cleanup, the students were to enjoy a picnic at the Frederiksted pool, as a reward for their hard work.
