DOH to Host Open House At St. John’s Morris De Castro Clinic On Thursday

Community Center / Health / News / November 2, 2016

ST. JOHN — The USVI Department of Health recently announced the return of clinical services to residents of St. John, and is inviting the public to an open house which will be held in the Franklin D. Powell Park next to the Morris De Castro Clinic, on Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Come meet providers and find out about all the services D.O.H. has to offer the residents on St. John.

D.O.H  says there will be free flu shots will be available. In addition, the Chronic Disease Prevention program, the Maternal Child Health program The Family Partnership for Pregnant Women program, the Women’s Health and Family Planning program, and the Mental Health program, will be providing additional information and services during the open house event.

The services were scaled back years ago as a consequence of austerity measures, according to D.O.H. Director of Public Relations Nykole Tyson, forcing St. Johnians to travel to St. Thomas for the programs. And some of these services have been available now in St. John for over a year, Ms. Tyson said, but some residents have been unaware of the offerings. Ms. Tyson said the open house will also serve to raise awareness.

For more information, contact Janet-Denton-Bennett, Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), 340-774-7477 ext 2069.
