ST. CROIX — On Sunday, November 13 the Rotary Club of St. Croix Mid-Isle held its 14th annual Motor Treasure Hunt, a fundraiser for the scholarship program. The treasure hunt is a fun event consisting of cars with 2-4 persons, following a set route and finding clues along the way, Rotary Mid-Isle says.
This year, the club raised over $7,000 for the 2 scholarship programs.
The nonprofit congratulated 1st place team of Isabel Brady, Karen VanHeckman, Sharon Early and Sara Kleinschrodt, 2nd place team of Kristi Forbes, Rocky Smith, Renee Sweany and Christopher Sublett and 3rd place team of David Beck and Jennell Bryan. According to Rotary Mid-Island, 16 teams participated.
Event sponsors included Diageo USVI, Innovative, Marshall & Sterling, Executive Insurance, Guardian Insurance, Plaza Extra East, Inter-Ocean Insurance, Plaza Extra West, Quality Electric, HH Tire and Battery, ILP+McChain Miller Nissman, Urban Foot Care Center, International Capital Management, JKC Communications, The Buccaneer, CPM Digital, Frenchman’s Reef & Morningstar Marriott Resort and the La Reine Chicken Shack.
The application process for scholarships will begin in early 2017, where Rotary Mid-Isle will award two 4-year scholarships for $1,000 per year to graduating high school seniors, as well as the sponsorship of two high school students to the 1-week International World Affairs Seminar at Carroll University in Waukesha, WI.
Additionally, in a newly formed scholarship partnership between Ocwen Mortgage and Rotary Mid-Isle, the club will be offering 1 four-year scholarship valued at $5,000 per year. High School college advisors island-wide will be informed when the scholarship applications are available.
