The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority has scheduled a road crossing on St. Croix’s Centerline Road, at Plaza Extra West, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Wednesday. The road crossing, which consists of both excavating and installing a pipe across the roadway, is necessary to provide potable water service to the new Mount Pleasant Development opposite Plaza Extra West.
There is no anticipated water service interruption while the authority’s contractor completes the 6-inch water pipe crossing, WAPA said.
While crews are working on the crossing, vehicular traffic will be temporarily re-routed. Motorists are asked to adhere to signs, and to use alternate routes if possible, for the safety of crews, pedestrians and other drivers. The Authority apologizes for the inconvenience and assures the public that every effort will be made to restore vehicular traffic as quickly as possible.
WAPA also scheduled emergency repairs to a 10-inch water main, in the vicinity of Texas Pit and the entrance to Nisky Shopping Center on St. Thomas. On Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., crews will work to repair the leaking water line. No interruption of potable water service is anticipated.
