Police Arrest Two Females Said To Be Involved In Recent Shooting Near Nisky Center

Crime / Virgin Islands / May 24, 2017

ST. THOMAS — The V.I.P.D. on Tuesday arrested two women said to be involved in the shooting incident that occurred near the Nisky Center on May 18, leaving one man injured.

According to V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman, contact was made with 31-year-old Shaunise Fahie of Bovoni at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, who placed under arrest in connection with the incident. Also on Tuesday, 22-year-old Desiree Perez of Annas Retreat was arrested at roughly 8:00 p.m., according to police.

The Consortium had sought further details on the females’ involvement in the case, specifically whether the women had actually fired at the victim, or whether they served as accomplices to suspects still on the loose. However, the the charges levied against the suspects suggest roles of an accomplice.

They were charged with first-degree assault, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting and accessory after the fact, according to Ms. Freeman. The suspects were then booked, processed and turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending their advise-of-rights hearing.

According to police, the 911 emergency call center on May 18 received notification at approximately 10:00 a.m. that multiple gunshots had been fired in the area of Nisky Center. Several other residents called immediately after and reported that there was a gunshot victim, who was shot while in his vehicle, a blue Toyota Yaris.

Upon officers’ arrival to the scene, they observed a black male who appeared to have sustained injuries due to the incident, and was transported via ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s emergency room for medical attention. Police later traveled to the hospital and made contact with the male victim, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his body. The victim was treated and later released, according to Ms. Freeman.

The force is asking anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators, to call 340-774-2211 or Criminal Investigation Bureau (340) 714-9801.
