ST. THOMAS — A St. Thomas man accused of battering a woman and stealing her belongings has been arrested and charged with robbery, V.I.P.D. Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman announced Friday.
According to Ms. Freeman, the victim told police that the suspect, identified as Gabriel Delgado, above, came to her residence on Wednesday, grabbed her by the hair, dragged her on the ground, bit her on the cheek, and struck her several times with a closed fist to the face. The victim further stated that Mr. Delgado grabbed her iPhone 7 Plus from her hand and fled the area.
Police did not say what time the incident occurred, and calls placed to Ms. Freeman were not returned at time of writing.
Ms. Freeman said the victim suffered a broken nose, facial swelling, a bite to the left cheek and abrasions to her right leg.
Mr. Delgado was charged with second-degree robbery and was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing, according to Ms. Freeman.
