It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved father, protector, provider and friend, 72-year-old Phillip Gilbert of Thibaud, Dominica, formerly of Penville, who resided in St. Croix and passed away on June 27, at 11:45 p.m.
He was a former employee of Dowasco, a government-run water company in Dominica.
The late Gilbert leaves to mourn his wife, Mathilda Gilbert.
He had three sons – Earl Gilbert, Ernice Gilbert, founder of V.I. Consortium and Egbert Gilbert employee of the Port Authority in Dominica.
Two daughters – Sandra Douglas and Kesha Gilbert employee at Ross University.
Five grandchildren – Garvin, Earlan, Kaiden, Elijah and Shanice.
One son-in-law – Gary Douglas.
One daughter-in-law – Charlene Gilbert.
Five sisters – Eunida Ferrol, Arlette Leger, Felina Gilbert and Joan Le Blanc.
Brothers – Ferdinand Leger and Neoline Gilbert.
Brothers-in-law – Lipson Massicot, Alfred Ferrol, Samuel, Hubert and Hector Alexander.
Sisters-in-law – Nurse Canoville and Eugene Alexander.
Many nieces and nephews, including Frances, Cynthia, Florence, Maslyn, Allie, Stephen, Heskeith, Kareem and Josiah.
Godchildren – Janice, Elina, Gloria and Gregory.
Many relatives and friends too numerous to mention, including – The Christmas family, Graham family, Iris, Terry and Sandra, Amoy, Maynard, Clive, Allan, Garnett Massicott and Family, Albert Massicott and Family, the Sylvain Family in Anse de-Mai, Julian Fountain, Charmain, Joseph and Iris Bethelmie, Virgin, Dixon, Mona, Roy and Janey Thomas, Beverly, Maulana, including the entire Thibaud, Vielle Case, Penville, Paix Bouche, Anse de-Mai, and Portsmouth communities in Dominica.
The funeral procession will take place on Friday, July 14 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on St. Croix.
Viewing – 9:00 a.m.
Service – 10:00 a.m.
Interment at Kingshill Cemetery.
