ST. THOMAS — N’kel Morton, 23, of St. Thomas, was sentenced today to 72 months in prison for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, Acting United States Attorney Joycelyn Hewlett announced. District Court Judge Curtis V. Gomez also sentenced Morton to three years of supervised release and 400 hours of community service.
On March 10, 2017, Morton pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. According to the plea agreement filed in court, Morton admitted to distributing approximately one ounce of cocaine to an undercover agent in exchange for a Glock pistol on November 16, 2016.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Meredith J. Edwards.
