Winsbut McFarland, Territorial Police Chief, Walks Through

News / Virgin Islands / August 24, 2017

When it comes to St. Croix, Territorial Police Chief Winsbut McFarland is a known and respected figure. His credibility on the big island came after years of proving himself as a serious officer but also a down-to-earth individual who loves the hands-on approach. He has conducted walk-through initiatives in many of the island’s troubled communities, speaking with young men and cautioning them against a life of crime.

Now that he is the territorial chief of police, Chief McFarland’s focus must be split between three islands, and on Wednesday, he employed in St. Thomas a strategy that has served him well on St. Croix.

The chief walked through a portion of downtown St. Thomas, greeting business owners — some of whom were pleasantly surprised — and assuring them of the V.I.P.D.’s commitment to protect the community.

Below, some scenes of the walk-through, courtesy of the V.I.P.D.
