ST. CROIX — On Friday V.I.P.D. officers in the Criminal Investigation Bureau made multiple arrests during an effort dubbed “Operation Senatus”, with suspects being charged with multiple criminal counts, according to a release the V.I.P.D. issued.

According to police, 19-year-old Jamie Lashawn Brewster was arrested pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by a Superior Court magistrate on April 19, for involuntary manslaughter. Bail for Mr. Brewster was set at $50,000, and he was remanded to Golden Grove Detention Facility, pending advisement hearing.

Police also arrested 44-year-old Yauncey Milligan pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by a Superior Court magistrate on April 11 for fist-degree robbery.

According to police, on November 9, 2017 Mr. Milligan entered a business and got into a verbal altercation with the owner. The verbal altercation resulted with Mr. Milligan lifting his shirt to display a firearm before driving away without paying for a tire that belonged to the business. Mr. Milligan was aided by his son, Yauncey Milligan Jr., who was also charged with first-degree robbery, Mr. Dratte said.

No bail was set and both men were  remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Facility pending their advisement hearing.

Elvis Edwards, 47, was arrested pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by a Superior Court Magistrate on April 12, 2018 for first-degree burglary and first-degree rape.

According to police, on September 2, 2015, Mr. Edwards broke into an adult female’s residence, sexually assaulted her and removed items from the residence before leaving.

Unable to make bail of $250,000, Mr. Edwards was remanded back to the Golden Grove Detention facility, where he was already imprisoned pending an aggravated rape trial, according to Mr. Dratte.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau submitted DNA sample for an unknown suspect for a rape that took place in 2016, and the results from the DNA were positive in confirming Mr. Edwards as the suspect.

Operation Senaturs also resulted in the arrest of 37-year-old Randall Simmonds pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by a Superior Court Judge on April 13, 2018 for third-degree assault.

On January 28, 2018, Mr. Simmonds assaulted an adult couple that was traversing near Mahogany Road, Frederiksted before he broke the front windshield of their vehicle, according to police.

Unable to make bail of $125,000, Mr. Simmonds was remanded to Golden Grove Detention Facility pending his advisement hearing.

Operation Senatus recovered 6 firearms and yielded an unknown amount of marijuana, according to police.
