ST. THOMAS — A man who was shot in his stomach on Saturday afternoon succumbed to his injuries soon after, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has confirmed to The Consortium.
Mr. Dratte said the 911 emergency call center was notified of a shooting near a Tutu High Rise apartment at about 4:31 p.m., with the caller stating that the victim was being transported to the hospital on a private vehicle.
A preliminary investigation by the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau (C.I.B.) revealed that the victim was shot in his lower abdomen. He was pronounced dead at 4:49 p.m. the same day, according to police.
The victim was identified by his mother as 29-year-old Akeem Lettesome.
