ST. THOMAS — A woman told police that she was beaten with a baseball bat by a drunk male acquaintance, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Monday.
According to the V.I.P.D., On Sunday, August 5 at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Domestic Violence Unit responded to a call in reference to a female who was being treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center, after being assaulted.
Upon arrival to the hospital, detectives interviewed the female victim, who said that a man with whom she shared a home, came to the home intoxicated and assaulted her with a baseball bat, causing injuries to her forearm and her torso area.
Today at approximately 9:45 a.m., police arrested 63-year-old John Petersen for third-degree assault. He was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing, according to police.
