St. Croix Central High To Remain Closed September 11; Arthur Richards Parent Meeting Scheduled For Thursday Sept. 13

ST. CROIX — The Department of Education announced on Monday that St. Croix Central High School will remain closed on Tuesday. D.O.E. said the electrical component needed for repairs is currently in transit from the mainland. The electrician is on standby awaiting the delivery and will commence repairs upon its arrival, according to the release.

Classes were dismissed early on September 6 as a result of a power outage caused by a small electrical fire in the kitchen. The cafeteria and major classroom wings were affected and remain without electricity.

As power restoration efforts make progress, the Department of Education will provide an update on the status of the school for Wednesday, September 12. Parents and students are asked to visit the Department’s Facebook page and check local media for updates, D.O.E. said.

The Arthur A. Richards Junior High School administration announces that there will be a parent/student meeting on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Legion Hall located at 13 & 14 Prince Street, Frederiksted at 10:00 a.m.

Important school updates will be provides and students and parents will have the opportunity to meet administrators and staff. Enrichment assignments will also be distributed. Attendance is strongly encouraged.
