ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department arrested three men on Tuesday in a Frederiksted home after finding a fully loaded assault rifle as well as multiple magazines, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Wednesday.
Mr. Dratte said the discovery of the ammunition and subsequent arrests came after detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s special operations unit, executed a federal warrant at the home of Amead Williams and Akeem Stanley.
A third individual in the home, Scotty Ricardo Stapleton, who police say is undocumented, was also arrested.
Mr. Williams, 23, was charged with an indicted person in possession of a firearm, according to police. Mr. Williams was on house arrest for a previous gun charge at the time of his arrest. No bail was given.
Mr. Stanley, 25, was charged with aiding and abetting an indicted person, and unauthorized possession of a firearm. His bail was set at $50,000.
And Mr. Stapleton, 32, was charged with alien in possession of a firearm. According to police, due to his immigration status, Mr. Stapleton was deemed a flight risk and was therefore detained.
