The Virgin Islands Department of Education announced that ongoing construction at school sites receiving temporary modular classrooms has further delayed the opening of the schools in the St. Thomas – St. John District until Thursday, September 27.
Schools scheduled to open and receive students on September 27 are the Charlotte Amalie High School; Ivanna Eudora Kean High School; Yvonne E. Milliner-Bowsky Elementary School; and the Joseph Gomez Elementary School, D.O.E. said.
The department said as construction progress is made, information on the opening of Addelita Cancryn Junior High School and Lockhart Elementary School will be released.
D.O.E. said Friday in this release that the Eulalie Rivera Elementary School would open for instruction on Monday, however, it is now saying that while teachers should report on Monday, students should report for classes on Wednesday.
Students attending the Arthur A. Richards Junior High School will also report to the John H. Woodson Jr. High School campus starting Monday, September 24.
Arthur A. Richards will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., while John H. Woodson’s current start and end times will remain the same. School buses will transport students to and from their standard pick-up and drop-off locations.
Information on school orientation schedules are located on the “For Families” tab on the www.vide.vi website. For more information, contact the Office of Public Relations at (340) 774-0100.
