On VIPC Tonight, Police Chief Winsbut McFarland Discusses Efforts To Combat Crime, Festival Safety

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / December 12, 2018

Territorial Police Chief Winsbut McFarland will join Ernice Gilbert on The Virgin Islands Political Consortium (V.I.P.C.) tonight at 7:00 p.m., where a range of topics related to the V.I.P.D., among them efforts to combat crime and safety during the 2018-19 Crucian Christmas Festival, will be discussed.

There has been a rash of homicides on St. Croix lately; it was just Saturday that a man was gunned down in the parking lot of the Gallows Bay Hardware Store in broad daylight. The week prior, a seven-man shootout left two individuals dead and one badly wounded.

Mr. Gilbert is expected to seek information relative to the V.I.P.D.’s efforts to quell the seemingly uncontrollable homicides that have affected the territory for years. Mr. Gilbert is also expected to ask Chief McFarlane about the force’s efforts to get guns off the streets.

The V.I.P.C. program, now airing on Wednesdays, will start at 7:00 p.m. and run for an hour. Join us here on the website or via our Facebook platform to watch it live.
