The democratic gubernatorial candidates are out of days to campaign for your votes as today, August 2nd, is when voters from across the territory will be casting their ballots.
But who’s going to win? Speaking to every single candidate, you get the sense that each team is confident in its ability to win — with Maleto Smith making known to me that, after painstakingly doing the math, he thinks that the territory is in for an upset as he and his running mate, Hubert Frederick, will win the democratic primaries today.
Meanwhile at the St. Croix headquarters of former Senator Adlah Donastorg, there’s nothing but optimistic supporters in the building’s every corner talking about Saturday without giving any hints of doubt that their candidate would lose. Speaking to the candidate himself and the confidence is even stronger. The former Senator told me that he’s lost in the past, and said loss taught him how to win, so there’s no sway in his mind that he’ll come out victorious and upset the perceived front runner, delegate Donna M. Christensen.
Other candidates in the race include former lieutenant governor Luz James, sitting lieutenant governor Gregory Francis and former Cruzan Rum CFO Marvin Pickering.
