Government Sees Multiple Resignations As Mapp Administration Comes To A Close

Featured / News / Virgin Islands / December 28, 2018

A number of Mapp-appointed agency and department heads have been submitting their resignation as the Mapp administration serves its last days in office. According to a Government House release, Mona Barnes, who served as director of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency, has resigned. So too has Delroy Richards, who served as commissioner of the Virgin Islands Police Department.

Governor Mapp has announced the appointment of Denise Lewis as acting director of VITEMA, and Joyce Dore-Griffin as acting commissioner of the Department of Tourism, following former Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty’s resignation, which became effective Thursday.

The governor also appointed Jason Marsh as acting commissioner of the Virgin Islands Police Department, effective today.

The incoming Bryan administration is expected to start announcing cabinet heads at an upcoming press conference set for either December 31 or January 2, according to Richard Motta, the Bryan-Roach transition team’s press secretary.
