ST. THOMAS — A man who last year reported to police that a female acquaintance had been shot after a robbery attempt, was arrested in connection with the same incident on Tuesday, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

According to the release, on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at approximately 10:14 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received a call from a man named Elijah Henry stating that a female acquaintance had been shot. Mr. Henry, 28, also stated to 911 that someone had tried to rob him.

The victim was was brought to the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s emergency room by Mr. Henry in her private vehicle, according to police.

The victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body and face. She was treated for her injuries and admitted to the hospital for followup.

According to Mr. Dratte, upon further investigation of the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Henry by a Superior Court magistrate on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

And this past Tuesday, Mr. Henry was arrested at the Oswald Harris Court Housing Community and was charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, child abuse, mayhem, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, first-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

The suspect was booked, processed and turned over the the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing.
