ST. CROIX — With billions of dollars in federal funding coming into the territory to rebuild as a result of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and with Governor Albert Bryan stressing on several occasions that he wants to see local business owners getting a cut of the pie before outside firms, local establishments have been interested in getting in on the action. The problem is many have no idea what the process is like, what are the requirements, how to apply, who to speak to, where to go, or even the opportunities available them.
Worry not, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on February 26 will host a business outreach and training seminar that it’s calling “Contracting with FEMA”. The event, set to take place in the conference room of the Virgin Islands Cardiac Center located at the Juan F. Luis Hospital, is for local businesses only. The all-day affair starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m., FEMA said.
The outreach is a prime opportunity for Virgin Islands businesses to learn the innards of FEMA contracting, and with $1.8 billion already available to be spent in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and a total amount of $10 billion expected overtime, there should be enough opportunities for businesses in a myriad of sectors to benefit.
FEMA said seating is limited, so interested persons should secure their attendance by sending an email to [email protected]
