Tryone Lake, a 12-year-old Virgin Islander in 2018 won a Caribbean-wide poster competition sponsored by the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association. On Tuesday, Tyrone, his former classmates, teachers and parents, were taken aboard the Serenade of the Seas in Frederiksted, where he was presented with a check of $3,000, along with a seperate check of the same amount for Alexander Henderson School, which Tyrone attended last school year. Aside from the check, the group was treated to a tour of the ship, played games, made slime and had all-you-can-eat lunch in a private area. The Virgin Islands Department of Tourism played a key role in facilitating and organizing the event.
