19-Year-Old Man Accused Of Raping 10-Year-Old Minor

Crime / News / Virgin Islands / February 10, 2019

Police on Friday arrested a 19-year-old man who was accused of raping a 10-year-old minor, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.

According to the V.I.P.D., the man, identified as Ryheim Moncherry, was accused by a female individual of raping the minor on January 9, which was when she reported the incident to police. A warrant for Mr. Moncherry’s arrest was issued by a Superior Court judge on Friday, and the suspect was then placed under arrest by police officers of the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Mr. Moncherry was charged with aggravated rape, first-degree rape and first-degree unlawful sexual contact, according to Mr. Dratte.

Unable to post bail, the suspect was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advisement hearing. The V.I.P.D. release did not specify in which district the alleged incident occurred.

Correction: Feb. 10, 2019

A previous version of this story stated that the suspect was accused of raping a female minor. The release, however, did not specify sex. The story has been updated to reflect the correct information.
