Featured / News / Sports / Virgin Islands / February 11, 2019

ST. CROIX — Athletes of the St. Croix Track and Field Club won gold medals during the Asociación de Atletismo Juvenil e Infantil de Puerto Rico (AAJI) competition over the weekend. The event, held in Caguas, Puerto Rico on Saturday, saw two of three St. Croix athletes topping the contests they performed in.

That’s according to the St. Croix Track and Field Club, which provided results of the competition in a release issued overnight. Anelia Austrie won the gold medal in the High Jump competition and silver in the Triple Jump match in 9.80m. Ariana Edgar won gold in the Shot Put competition (the throw of 11.48m also qualified Ms. Edgar to compete in the CARIFTA games in Cayman Islands this year).

Alex Joseph, another St. Croix competitor, came in 15th overall in a time of 45.97sec. in the 300m contest.

“We are very proud of all our athletes as they continue to work hard in their classes and in Track & Field,” said the release.
