ST. CROIX — The 10th Annual Dominican Republican Independence Day Parade was held in Christiansted on Sunday. D.R. will mark its independence from various nations, including the United States, which had control of the Caribbean island from 1916 to 1924, on February 27. St. Croix residents of Dominican descent, along with other locals traditionally participate in the event.

Watch scenes of Sunday’s parade — which kicked off at the Basin Triangle and wove through downtown Christiansted, as participants danced and waved to on-lookers on either side of main street.
