Government House on Friday announced that Governor Albert Bryan has named Dayna Clendinen, who was a co-chair of Mr. Bryan’s transition team, as the director of the Division of Personnel. Ms. Clendinen is currently the assistant commissioner of the Department of Public Works.
“I am pleased to announce Dayna Clendinen as the director of the Virgin Islands Division of Personnel. I am grateful for her continued service to the people of the Virgin Islands and look forward to her leading our efforts to connect talented Virgin Islanders and others to the critical vacancies within our government. She is charged with the professional development of our public sector-workforce,” the governor said.
According to Government House, Ms. Clendinen is a human resources and business administration professional with more than 18 years of leadership experience in public and private organizations. She has served as director of human resources at the Department of Education, the VI Port Authority, and the VI Housing Finance Authority, Government House said.
She was also noted as having experience in the nonprofit field, having served at the North Carolina Community Foundation as administrator/HR.
Ms. Clendinen has worked in the private sector as the assistant to the vice president of organizational and people development at GlaxoSmithKline, and as the director of global resourcing and financial analysis at the firm.
She is a candidate for the Ph.D. in creative leadership for innovation and change from the University of the Virgin Islands, and holds a master of science in organizational leadership, and a bachelor of arts in communications.
