ST. CROIX — Dr. Dale Manuel of Frederiksted Healthcare Inc. (F.H.C.) on March 5 was presented with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (E.S.G.R.) Patriot Award, a recently issued release has made known.

Dr. Manuel was nominated by Kerriise Richards, a sergeant in the Virgin Islands National Guard’s Medical Detachment, who said she nominated Dr. Manuel because of the support he has shown for her military service. She said Dr. Manuel recognizes her work, keeps in touch with her family, and supports the Guard and Reserve.

“I am truly honored and surprised, I am humbled by this award,” Dr. Manuel said. “Ms. Richards is a wonderful employee and we are happy to have her.”

Dr. Manuel works at F.H.C.’s Dental East Office, according to the release. F.H.C. is a community-based nonprofit primary health care center committed to serving the primary health care needs of residents and visitors. “I am just proud that she wants to be a part of our (FHC’s) community service ,” the doctor said.

“We appreciate what she does in the National Guard, and for us as a community,” he added.

Dr. Manuel’s support of Sgt. Richards’s military service was appreciated by Paul Radix, Virgin Islands E.S.G.R. employer outreach coordinator. “On behalf of the Department of Defense, we thank you for the support you give, because reservists servicemembers need to have that support from their civilian employers,” Mr. Radix said. “It is very, very important that they receive that support.”
