The University of the Virgin Islands will host a series of events to launch its new Strategic Plan – “Greatness Through Innovation” beginning Monday, March 25, through Wednesday, March 27, on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix respectively, the institution of higher learning made known via release Friday. A university’s strategic plan is its roadmap for the future and this new plan will define the University’s direction from 2018-2023.
“This strategic plan, if successfully implemented, will propel UVI into the category of “distinctive leaders in higher education” for decades to come,” said UVI President David Hall.
The Strategic Plan launch events will be held as follows:
- St. Thomas – March 25, 4-6 p.m. – Room 142, Administration and Conference Center (ACC), St. Thomas Campus.
- St. John – March 26, 3-5 p.m. – Conference Room 3, VI Legislature Building
- St. Croix – March 27, 4-6 p.m. – Great Hall, Albert A. Sheen Campus
Mr. Hall and the Strategic Plan Implementation Committee will formally introduce the plan to the University community, V.I. community and other stakeholders. Promotional materials will be on display and available for distribution.
Mr. Hall has invited UVI community to attend the launch events. “Those who did not participate in the plan’s development should come and hear how this special University will create a “culture of innovation” over the next five years,” he said.
“The plan indicates where UVI wants to go in that time and how it intends to get there,” said Sharlene Harris, chair of the Strategic Plan Implementation Committee. “Its six focus areas ensure innovation and creativity are infused throughout the institution; recognizes innovative programs and supports the development of new ones; trains persons on innovation and creativity; and encourages the use of innovation and creativity in improving and making University processes lean.”
According to UVI, the strategic plan was collaboratively devised by all sectors of the university and with input from the broader community. Critical leadership was provided by the Strategic Planning Task Force, which consisted of representatives from UVI administration, staff, faculty and student body.
