ST. CROIX — A man totaled a white Chevrolet Silverado just before the 11:00 a.m. hour Thursday on East End Road near Mount Pleasant East, after slamming into a utility pole belonging to the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority, The Consortium can confirm. The accident cut off electricity in Mount Pleasant and neighboring areas.
The man driving the vehicle told police he was supposed to catch a flight, as officers sought to ascertain his status. He had several cuts to his legs, including knees, but told police that he was okay.
The accident totaled the truck, mangling its frontend. It also cut the WAPA pole in half and left the upper part dangling from the sky, and was being held up by utility lines.
Traffic was not impeded by the accident, as the totaled Silverado crashed into the WAPA pole on the roadside, leaving the main road free of impediments.
