Crime / News / Virgin Islands / April 26, 2019

ST. CROIX — A 52-year-old Department of Planning and Natural Resources enforcement officer was arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning for allegedly raping and sodomizing a female acquaintance, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced late Friday.

Mr. Dratte said the 911 emergency call center was notified of the incident at about 12:05 a.m. Detectives with the V.I.P.D.’s Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Domestic Violence Unit were dispatched to the location, which the V.I.P.D. did not reveal because of the nature of the case.

Mr. Dratte said the acquaintance told police that Carlos Ayolo, 52, above, raped and sodomized her. Mr. Dratte confirmed that Mr. Ayolo is a D.P.N.R. enforcement officer.

Mr. Ayolo was charged with first-degree rape and was remanded to the Golden Grove Detention Center pending his advisement hearing. Based on the territory’s domestic violence laws, no bail was offered to the suspect.
