Major Upgrades Coming To Cyrile E. King Airport’s Domestic Departure Lounge, Restrooms

Community Center / News / Virgin Islands / May 9, 2019

ST. THOMAS — The domestic departure lounge at the Cyril E. King Airport Terminal on St. Thomas will receive major upgrades starting next week, the Port Authority has announced. V.I.P.A. Acting Executive Director Damian Cartwright announced that the restrooms in the domestic hold room will be completely revamped.

V.I.P.A. said it’s expanding the male and female restrooms, adding more stalls with new fixtures, improving the lighting and replacing all the floor and wall tiles. There will also be a new family restroom to accommodate persons traveling with young children. V.I.P.A. added. The restroom renovations will take about three months to complete. During the remodeling, male travelers will be directed to use the restrooms in Gate 1 of the terminal. The female restroom will remain open.

The Hibiscus Restaurant operated by Concessions International in the domestic departure lounge is also scheduled to reopen at the end of May 2019, the authority said.

VIPA expressed appreciation for the public’s patience during the ongoing renovations at its port facilities.
