The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture (D.O.A.) has announced mulch distribution during the week of May 13 – 17, at Estate Slob on St. Croix.
Farmers and the general public are welcome to visit Estate Slob during the aforementioned week with their trucks, D.O.A. said. D.O.A. employees will be present with equipment to load bins or large trucks between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., according to the release.
Additionally, due to a pending drought and water scarcity, the Department of Agriculture is implementing a water rationing schedule to farmers in the Community Garden. Water will be available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and during the weekends, the department said.
All farmers are encouraged to utilize water conservation practices and should have on-site water storage capacity, D.O.A. said.
