ST. CROIX — A woman was charged with attempted murder among other charges after stabbing a male acquaintance several times early Sunday morning in Estate Cane Carlton, V.I.P.D. Public Information Officer Glen Dratte has announced.
The call notifying authorities of the incident came in to the 911 emergency call center at about 5:25 a.m. Sunday. Upon officers’ arrival to the scene, they learned that the woman, Belynda M. Lynch, and the male acquaintance had gotten into a physical altercation. According to the police report, Ms. Lynch became enraged after the altercation and stabbed the male acquaintance several times in the thigh area. The male victim received treatment for his injuries at the Juan F. Luis Hospital.
Mr. Dratte said the incident was corroborated by a witness.
Ms. Lynch was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, and possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence.
Keeping in line with the territory’s domestic violence laws, no bail was given to Ms. Lynch, and she was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending her advisement hearing.
